Pickering teen tries Canada's first backpack chemo
Yusuf Hirji was just 16 when he was diagnosed with the same cancer as Canadian icon, Terry Fox. I got to spend time with Yusuf and his family twice in 2013, as they shared how his diagnosis changed their lives. Yusuf was incredibly excited to be chosen by SickKids for a pilot project, where he was the first in Canada to receive chemo treatment through his backpack. Sadly Yusuf died in 2016. But all these years later, his story and legacy live on. His positivity was unwavering, and before he died he got to complete every wish on his dream list.
