Belly Tank | Ep75 Full Running Engine Test
May 17th was deadline for pulling out of the event at Pendine Sands in South Wales, UK. This gives others a chance to prepare their cars. I have been pushing hard with the build lately because I needed to do a test on 17th May of some major deal-breakers:
engine startup,
cooling system,
the strange exhaust system,
transmission,
clutch mechanism and also
if my gearchange system actually works from the cockpit.
It went well so the project continues. Minor problems:
Tiny drop of green coolant at top left corner of one cylinder head. Not sure if it was a leak or had ended up there as a spillage from when I filled the cooling system. It seemed to go away as the engine warmed up so not sure if I should just ignore it at this stage. No pressurisation of cooling system observed.
Oil leak at my oil pressure sensor fitting via an adapter.
Smoke off exhaust manifold on the side where I had previously changed the head gasket.
Oil pressure was 38 when cold and 15 when hot at tickover, which, looking at the forums seems to be absolutely fine.
The insert for the previously leaking spark plug seems to be working which is good too.
