LEST WE FORGET
Today April 25th marks ANZAC Day in Australia and New Zealand.
ANZAC stands for Australia and New Zealand Amy Corp.
On the 25th of April 1915, Australian and New Zealand soldiers formed part of the allied expedition that set out to capture the Gallipoli peninsula. These became known as Anzacs and the pride they took in that name continues to this day.
The day starts at 6am with a dawn service to mark the time the ANZAC’s landed at Gallipoli.
During the service the ode is read out. “They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.”
