Firefighters Teach SWAT to Rappel
Wausau Fire and Marathon County SWAT trained jointly on hasty rappelling techniques as part of Advanced Law Enforcement and Rapid Response Training (ALERRT).
This training highlights the collaborative efforts in training between organizations. As part of the ALERT training, the SWAT team members need a basic knowledge of rappelling techniques. Utilizing their own equipment, WFD instructors provided SWAT members with methods to use in emergency rappels in the event of things “heading South” and they need to evacuate. This training brought about discussion on what other equipment may serve them better. Those discussions may lead to future training and the growth of their rope skills.
