Beverly formed Maze, originally called Raw Soul, in his hometown of Philadelphia in 1970. After a move to San Francisco and an introduction to Marvin Gaye, Maze released nine Gold albums and built a large and devoted following. Beverly is the band's songwriter, producer, and lead vocalist. He is known for his distinctive baritone voice and charismatic stage presence. Beverly died on September 10, 2024, at the age of 77.
