Sailing on Candlewood Lake
Candlewood Lake is located in western Connecticut and is the largest lake in the state. I launched from Lattins Cove boat launch on the south side of the lake. Plenty of parking and a nice wide boat ramp that can accommodate three trailers wide. Water levels are very low so some larger boats had trouble with touching the bottom. The Catalina Capri 14.2 has a shallow draught, so it was no problem. The location to tie up near the ramp was so shallow that even the Capri touched the bottom.
The lake is large with plenty of locations to explore. There were light winds around 5-6 knots with some gusts. Winds were from the south. I used the electric motor for the narrow channel leading from the ramp.
