Poland Is Furious With Republicans
Poland has it with American Republicans. The Polish Prime Minister said that Republican senators should be ashamed of themselves for blocking aid to Ukraine. He tweeted “Dear Republican Senators of America. Ronald Reagan, who helped millions of us to win back our freedom and independence, must be turning in his grave today. Shame on you” No one unconditionally supports America like Poland, so if Poland is disappointed in us.. Maybe it’s time to self-reflect. Meanwhile the German Chancellor is coming to Washington to try to change some minds. With him telling reporters that even with Germany’s large contributions and commitments, Ukraine still needs American weapons. Trump reportedly plans to target the European Union with punitive trade measures designed to seek revenge. This would include placing at least a 10% tariff on the EU as well as going after European digital services. And the EU says it’s preparing for a trade war with Trump. This comes after Congress made it basically impossible for him to pull out of NATO, should he win the Presidency. The leader of NATO was also just in town to tell Americans that NATO is a good deal that makes them a lot of money. Saying that NATO has bought $120 billion worth of weapons from America in just the past two years. And adding that other NATO allies actually do give more to Ukraine than the US. Saying that by a share of GDP, most allies are providing more for Ukraine than Uncle Sam despite some claims to the contrary. He finished by saying NATO is ready to follow America into a competition with China.
