American Artist Jeff Schofield's paintings hang alluringly at Corp Executive Hotel Apartments in Al Barsha, Dubai. The two week exhibition that opened on March 2, brings together more than 35 unique pieces. Unlike most artists, Jeff recycles discarded materials from construction sites to create absolutely fascinating paintings.
Being an architect by profession, Jeff is an accredited environmentally sustainable designer. "Times are changing and so should our approach to art," he said. "Any kind of extravagance doesn't fit anymore into our modern way of life particularly if it is damaging to the environment. My approach is based on restraint. Hence, I recycle construction wastes such as pieces of wire, plywood, jute fabric, canvas, electronic devices, grilles, basically anything that can be carried away. I know that one recycled artwork won't save the planet, but it can illustrate the right direction."
