In this video, we discuss the recent changes by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that have ended the temporary policy allowing visitors in Canada to apply for work permits from within the country. Introduced in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, this policy was helpful for many visitors, but it has now been discontinued as of August 28, 2024.
But don’t worry there’s still a legal option available! You can go to the U.S. border, get refused entry, return to Canada, and apply for a work permit at the Port of Entry. This process is allowed under Sections 193f and 198(1) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.
