Another fav! I used the mix for "Kingston" as a template to make this song and rolled in the chopped vocals also for a reprise effect. This song continues the theme of long-distance romance and is special because my wife has a brief vocal section which we recorded long-distance using her Voice Memos app out of necessity. This added a tangibly bitter-sweet quality to the track, highlighting the efforts that go into long-distance while spinning it into something beautiful and relevant to the theme of the song. And she sounds so GOOD. Enjoy!

Lyrics:
“Sweeter in the End”
I crossed a line
Curiosity to find
Someone that I could call my own
Guess I got lost inside the glow playing with fire
When the smoke cleared I found
Something I did not expect
Someone who was waiting to love me
How did I ever get so lucky?
That I found you
We didn’t choose the simple path
Because bliss was in our grasp
Chorus:
We’re trying to make the best of this long episode of
Counting days that never seem to pass
Yet still we still carry on
I feel you beating in my chest
Hold on baby, this is just a test
It’s only going to be this much sweeter in the end
You’ve shown me what it means
To be content
To keep the Savior at the heart
‘Cause anything less just falls apart
Under its weight
The distance eats at us
Like an itch we just can’t scratch
But still we would do it all again
To be together
Let’s pretend it’s just a dream
What did we get ourselves into?
But we’re near the finish line (chorus)
Waiting for what feels like eternity
Eager to hold you in my arms
In my arms
In my arms (guitar solo/last chorus)
