TRIK Studio is a free, Robotic Vehicle Environment Simulation software (for Linux 64 bit OS, Mac OS or Windows 10, equipped PCs). Amongst others, it allows for an «EV3 Basic» robot vehicle, user intstallable with a maximum of 4 sensors. It allows for any number of compatible LEGO Mindstorms sensors, even 4 of the same kind, attached to any port 1, 2, 3 or 4, but has a fixed number of motors: 2 Big Motors, for the wheels, user attached to any port, A, B, C or D.
In this particular competition situation, there exists a mat area with equally spaced, drawn horizontal and vertical black lines, defined by «solid walls» (brown structures). Also drawn on the mat are: one square, flat green area (starting position) & one square, flat red area (finish position). There are also 10 small, movable, «solid wall» structures (5 horizontal & 5 vertical), which are allowed to be positioned only on the grey horizontal & vertical lines, also drawn on the mat. The position of the wall structures is randomly predefined, to allow for a clear maze (labyrinth) path from green to red area.
Τhe challenge is to equip the robotic vehicle with a suitable number of sensors and then program it with an algorithm which «solves» this maze, thus driving the vehicle from START to FINISH. An example solution is shown here for 2 different, consecutive maze paths (be patient to watch them, both). Enjoy!
