After contentious datacenter fight, Culpeper County says it's learned a lesson
When we last checked in on Culpeper County, Virginia, its plan to attract datacenters was facing opposition from a group of locals contesting a new Amazon bit barn in the area. Fast forward a couple of years, and the strategy of datacenter development in the county has changed.
"We learned a lot through [the Amazon] process," Culpeper Economic Development director Bryan Rothamel told The Register's Brandon Vigliarolo. "We said, hey, as we move forward in this data center conversation, we want this to be closer to … the town of Culpeper."
