How to Sublimate on a Blank Polyester Schoolbag | A Sublimation Tutorial
Sublimating on a kids' schoolbag can be a fun and creative way to personalize their belongings. Sublimation blanks are often expensive, remember to test the sublimation process on a sample or scrap material before applying it to the schoolbag to ensure you achieve the desired results.
Here's a step-by-step guide on how to sublimate on a kids' schoolbag:
Select a Sublimation-Friendly Schoolbag: Ensure that the schoolbag you choose is made of a polyester-based material or is specifically designed for sublimation. Polyester or polyester-coated materials allow for better ink absorption and vibrant colour transfer.
Preheat the Heat Press: Preheat your heat press to the recommended temperature for sublimation, typically around 380 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (193 to 204 degrees Celsius).
Prepare the Design: Create or select a design that you want to sublimate onto the schoolbag. You can use graphic design software to design your own or choose from pre-designed templates. Ensure that the design fits within the printable area of the schoolbag
Print the Sublimation Transfer: Print the design onto sublimation transfer paper using specific sublimation ink and a compatible printer. Remember to mirror the design horizontally before printing, especially if there are any text or directional elements in the design.
Position the Transfer: Lay the sublimation transfer face-down onto the desired area of the schoolbag. Make sure the design is correctly aligned and centered. Consider using heat-resistant tape to secure the transfer in place if needed.
Apply Heat and Pressure: Place the schoolbag with the transfer onto the padded base provided with the 3D Mini Vacuum Press. Use the heating element from the heat press and place gently on the transfer to avoid any movement. Heat Pressing will take around usually around 50 to 70 seconds.
When finished, remove the transfer paper from the schoolbag, peeling it off gently and evenly.
