Gender-based violence (GBV) can take place behind closed doors when no one else is watching. It can occur between a husband and wife, a boyfriend and girlfriend, lovers, partners and other relationships. We are sharing the story about a woman who is a former singer and performer - her dream career. Yet, married to a politician and election candidate; her husband denied her from continuing to pursue her desired career and instead forced and coerced her into a job in politics. GBV is not only marked by physical scars, but also emotional and mental scars through the control and coercion of a woman by their partner - leading to dependence on an abusive partner and then the woman's entrapment within this cycle of violence.
During these 16 days of activism, it is time to make the invisible visible and break the culture of silence. Share this post #ViolenceCanBeSilent to stand in solidarity and join us in calling for the prevention and end to violence against women.
