Chiquita lock at Cape Harbour in SW Cape Coral has been inoperable since Hurricane Ian and is now in its final preparation for being removed permanently. The lock was closed for several days for inspection and to remove the lock gates. Pilings and timber were placed to help protect boats traversing the narrow and dangerous passage.
Enjoy some aerial views of the lock work and a first person view of the conditions going in and out of the lock during outgoing tides. Boats have to nearly get to planing RPMs to maneuver through the lock safely. Use caution!
