The process of verifying a user or device before allowing access to a system or resources is called Authentication. This process helps with the confirmation of a user's identity before allowing it to access secure systems or networks.
Over the years, the process of authentication has evolved from passwords and encryption to multi-factor authentication and single sign-on to biometrics. Investing in authentication for an Identity and Access Management (IAM) infrastructure strategy allows organizations to limit data breaches, reduce and manage organizational costs and achieve regulatory compliance.
