Stephanie Soo and Nikocado - My Thoughts and a Cautionary Message

Yesterday, a channel I've never heard of before showed up in my recommendations in the form of a video where a mukbang Youtuber details allegations that the infamous Nikocado Avocado treated her horribly during the time where they filmed several collaboration videos. Stephanie Soo is adorable, well-spoken, emotional, and extremely convincing, and her allegations line up with the controlling, self-obsessed persona Nikocado puts on in his videos. Her video accusing him, "Why I Am Scared Of Nikocado Avocado"    • Why I Am Scared Of Nikocado Avocado   is edited expertly and is scripted in the most intelligent and effective way possible. My heart goes out to this girl, and what she recounts is awful, inexcusable behavior. She states that her reason for making this public is that Nikocado has threatened on social media to "expose" her to his massive horde of fans, teasing them by posting that he has scandalous information on someone who snubbed him, and while she's terrified of both him publicizing things she told him in confidence and his group of famous and powerful friends he's badmouthed her to, she wants to get her side of the story out ahead of time to protect herself.

As convincing as her video is, and as much as I detest Nikocado Avocado, I want to caution everyone to be skeptical of anything alleged online. As we have seen from James Charles, ProJared, Slazo, and the uncountable victims of the #metoo movement, accusations against an internet personality are not always what they seem, and public accusations from a figure with something to gain from making them are rarely the whole story.

We keep promising we'll be more cautious in the future and apologizing to people we as viewers and followers have helped cancel culture to wrongfully destroy, but every time it happens, the internet as a whole falls for it all over again.

I am NOT stating that Stephanie is lying or slandering Nikocado. I am simply cautioning everyone to be wary of jumping to conclusions before all the evidence and context is given the opportunity to surface.

Hi – I’m Michelle (a.k.a. Chat-Mort.) I love the freedom, prosperity, and hope America has brought to its citizens and the rest of the world. It’s too late to save it, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try. I make political and cultural commentary videos and discuss my struggles with depression and anxiety in hopes that my experience will help some of you. I also make videos on my digital and traditional art, discuss the manga, anime, books, and video games I like, and do laidback streams every week or two to talk with my subscribers. If my videos and experiences can show one person that they’re not alone, all of this has been worth it.
