County Antrim: Carrickfergus Castle
We headed for one of the earliest fortresses in Ireland - located about 10 miles outside Belfast you'll find Carrickfergus Castle. Built in the 1100s by the Norman lord John de Courcey - it's in a wonderful location and has been beautifully conserved into a real historical experience.
