First take the ec2 snapshot
Deregister the AMI image from snapshot
Archive the snapshot
Restore the snapshot:
select the snapshot then Action then Archiving then select Restore snapshot from archive then choose permanent and click Restore snapshot. It will take sometime for restoring then image.
