Found this guitar in a charity shop last week for very little money, not much info on these but it seems to be a Kansas acoustic (Sticker inside the guitar just about holding on). From what I can find these guitars were made in Romania during the 1950s. There was a lot wrong with it but I got her up and running again today, tried to keep repair work to a minimum to prevent losing any of the bits of character this guitar has picked up over the years (And because I don't really know what I'm doing yet).
I recorded a fool around in open D and she's got a great sound!
Here's a list of the work done:
removed all parts for cleaning (Honestly it was disgusting)
Lubricated tailpiece as it was squeaky
removed a small amount of height from bridge so the guitar was somewhat playable without slide (Still very high though so its not a big change from what is was)
Oiled fretboard
relubricated tuners and removed some small rust
sanded nut so it would sit flat against the guitar (The nut never fitted the guitar properly)
knocked the frets back in to fretboard where they had popped up most (Didn't quite get this the whole way though)
