Direct Fusion Drive - Centrifugal Mirror Confinement
The Department of Aerospace Engineering team at the University of Maryland presented their research on how to optimize a direct fusion drive engine. Jerry Carson, Post Doctorate Research Assistant, and Professor Raymond Sedwick, Director of the Space Power and Propulsion Laboratory, have found success by using Centrifugal Mirrors to confine the high energy plasma generated by the fusion reaction.
