Soyuz 7K-L1 or Zond was planned as manned Moon fly-by. With a new Proton rocket it was a point of a soviet lunar programm. But due to Proton rocket failures and also failure of all N-1 starts where was no manned Zond's flights. In 1974 lunar programm was closed.
