Jace Johnson started recording music in his closet back in 2009 and has never stopped since. Although he's played in different bands and under different names over the years, the simplicity of his songwriting has remained the same. Finally releasing music under his own name, Jace Johnson has come into a sound that is truly his own.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of Alex G, Conor Oberst, and Jeff Tweedy, Jace Johnson creates a version of bedroom pop that weaves a story. His distinct voice and thoughtful lyrics stand out across all of his music over the years.
His first new single, Master Plan, was written/performed by himself, and produced/performed by Tim Cote of Dog Cop Records. The stark contrast between the upbeat, feel good music, and the melancholic lyrics stands out when a bright, beautiful piano comes in alongside the line "This life is shit". An ode to the comedy of life, Master Plan stands as an introduction to the new sound of an old, familiar friend.
