Our final guest on Tsukkamu Seigo is costume designer Emi Wada.
We present a live recording of a conversation the two held at Honro in the fall of 2019.
The theme of this fourth installment is "Dyeing, Fabric, and Texture."
Enjoy this intellectual conversation between Seigo Matsuoka and Emi Wada!
[Emi Wada] 1937-2021
Wada was born in Kyoto in 1937. While studying at Kyoto City University of Arts, she married NHK director Tsutomu Wada. Assisting with Tsutomu's stage productions led her to become a costume designer. For "Ran," she meticulously researched the period and added her own unique touches to create costumes, from dyeing thread to weaving fabric. In 1986, she won an Academy Award for Best Costume Design. Her ability to carefully study scripts and create costumes tailored to the characters and scenes earned her recognition, and she also worked on international productions, including the Chinese film "HERO" directed by Zhang Yimou.
Trivia, chatter, distractions, noise, magazines, crowds, zoni (a traditional Japanese soup), miscellaneous items, miscellaneous, miscellaneous... miscellaneous knowledge.
In "Seigow Matsuoka's Thousand Nights and Thousand Miscellaneous," Seigo Matsuoka delves into every person, thing, and event in the world, without discrimination.
"Seigow Tsukamu" is a YouTube video of just that kind of miscellaneous knowledge!
