We don't know exactly when the idea of God arose in humans. But we can describe one of humanity's first gods quite clearly. He was the Great God of the Hunt.
This being is depicted in various cave paintings that have survived to this day.
In France, there is the famous Cave of the Three Brothers, Les Trois-Frères. It contains mysterious depictions of "beastmen" and chimerical animals.
One image stands out among them, nicknamed "The Sorcerer," "The Shaman," and "The Lord of Beasts."
He combined the features of a human and several animals. He has the horns and ears of a deer, the eyes and beak of an owl, the forepaws of a bear, a horse's tail, and human legs.
This is probably what the Great God of the Hunt looked like among primitive people.
