9 LESSONS To Know BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE
Tim Minchin is an Australian musician, comedian, and actor. In 2014, he was given a privileged chance by the University of Western Australia to give some guidance to the students on things he had learnt travelling the world, the ideas on being a successful person.
During, his speech he made a list of nine life lessons, to echo the nine lessons to entire world.
Lesson 1: We don't have to have a dream
We need to advocate passionate, dedication to the pursuit of short-term goals. Being micro ambitious and put your head down to work with pride. This is because we never know where we might end up just be aware the next worthy pursuit will probably appear in our periphery which is why we should be careful of long-term dreams
Lesson 2: Don’t seek happiness
We need to keep busy and always make someone else happy as we didn't evolve to be constantly content!
Lesson 3: We are lucky
We can’t take credit for successes and not truly blame others for their failures. This will humble ourselves and more compassionate. Empathy is intuitive for everyone.
Lesson 4: Exercise regularly
We must play a sport and at the same time protect our valuable bodies. Exercise will achieve a level of wealth that most humans throughout history could not have dreamed of.
Lesson 5: Be hard on our own opinions
We must think critically and not just about the ideas of others. We should avoid generating false dichotomies and then try to argue one point using two entirely different sets of assumptions.
Lesson 6: Be a teacher
Everyone should be a teacher. Don’t take for granted for what we learn by spraying it everywhere.
Lesson 7: Define ourselves by what we love
We have a tendency to define ourselves in opposition to stuff. But we also need to be demonstrative and generous in our praise of those we admire. Be pro stuff not just anti stuff.
Lesson 8: Respect people with less power than you
The most powerful people is not the one who have lots of skills but it is the talented one who still chooses to aid or help the less power people.
Lesson 9: Don’t rush in life
We don’t need to know what we’re doing to do with the rest of life. Life is hard, but we can choose to fill ourselves with learnings!
