By this point in time most devices that are eligible for the one UI 6.0 and android 14 update have gotten it and it packed full of changes and features so in this video we'll be going through the coolest ones
There's is now a new default font system wide that is wider than the last
There is a new animation for the back gesture. And the most noticeable change comes in the notification shade and quick settings area.
Now notifications are separated into cards and can be grouped by app or if you please, you can have each of them separate. And you can now sort them by time instead of priority if you wish
Up top you still get 6 default quick settings that you can swap out for whichever you want and below that are the media output and device control buttons.
Opening the full quick setting page reveals more changes, now the panel is arranged into 5 sections,
Controls for WiFi and Bluetooth at the very top, followed by the rest of your quick settings, sim info if you have two sims enabled
The brightness slider is now together with controls for dark mode and eye comfort shield
Finally at the bottoms you get media output and mirroring controls
Now you of course edit a lot of these by tapping the little pencil icon but there is one new notable setting, the quick settings instant access, turn this on and you'll be able to access the full quick settings panel by swiping from the top right corner just like how you get to control. Center in iOS, of course you can still swipe down with two fingers for this
It's a very intuitive layout and things are easy to find only downside is that it's less reachable with one hand but it's a fair trade off I think.
You get a new media player interface that when expanded shows the album art in the background and a new progress animation that show waveforms kinda like material you but better since it doesn't look like a sperm.
Next up you get more customization options for your lock screen clock with a couple of new fonts and styles and now the ability to position the clock anywhere in the top area of the lock screen.
And now you can have a complete custom lock screen for each focus mode just like in iOS
And speaking of focus modes, they too get an update, now you can created your own custom modes.
Further UI changes include a couple of new widgets like the dynamic weather widget and my personal favorite, the custom camera widget, this allows you to quickly open the camera in a preset mode every time, for example opening the rear camera in slow motion mode. This allows you to save time fumbling through the camera app looking for the right mode and possibly missing the shot. And you can have as many of these are you want.
The camera itself gets a whole host of changes, firstly the top bar is new redesigned, making it easier to change modes aspect ratios and the like, and now there is a dedicated resolution button that helps. You quickly switch between 12, 50 or 200mp is your camera supports it. Likewise in video mode you get a new UI for switching between framerates and resolution
You now get more assistance like a digital level in all modes that help you keep your shots upright, I know I needed this feature in video.
Finally there is this new feature in the settings called Advanced Intelligence Options which gives you three options for post shot processing, maximum, medium and minimum. If you know Samsung cameras you know there is always shutter lag when taking photos well setting the minimum option gives you no shutter lag at the expense of processing, if you set it to medium, it will do less optimization but faster than if you set it to maximum.
The gallery app now lets you edit photos with these quick buttons instead of digging through menus, you can use ai features like remaster or erase objects very quickly. you can now quickly extract text by tapping this T in the corner you can drag and drop image cutouts between apps with two hands
More changes include a new auto blocking feature that prevents app side loading from unknown sources or updates via USB, I think I'm keeping this one off.
Oh and now when you turn on airplane mode, and say have Bluetooth or WiFi one, the phone will remember to not turn those off the next time you switch airplane mode on.
The battery setting get its own list item in the settings app and it's revamped with new graphs
Oh and this being android 14, you get the new Easter egg which is better than it has been for a long long time
