The amethyst reactor is experiencing a thermal runaway and you were quick enough to activate the magma loop vessels before the reactor got as hot as the sun. When you activate the shutdown system, 3 gigantic particle accelerators arise from the blast doors covering them and stretch the AER before throwing their collection of particles against the reactor... or can it?
