First day PLC programming
This is an example of a PLC program designed and written by a student on his first day of learning PLC programming. The particular PLC students use in the Instrumentation program is the Koyo "CLICK" model, introduced in 2008. Each and every student purchases their own PLC and programs it multiple times each day with programs of increasing challenge. This individual hands-on focus allows them to learn PLC programming concepts much faster than if they had to share PLC trainer devices.
Students also learn to wire all the inputs and outputs on their PLCs, which is something often omitted in PLC courses using pre-built trainer devices. I find this individualized method of teaching PLC technology far superior to standard approaches.
