Creating a DIY Christmas nativity scene can be a great way to have fun with your family. It may seem difficult to say, but it's actually inexpensive to make, both in terms of cost and effort.
Helpful Tips
There are different types of Styrofoam, which we'll call "white" and "blue" to make things easier.
Blue Styrofoam is much better than "white" Styrofoam for several reasons. First, it's more compressed and compact, and unlike "white" Styrofoam, it doesn't crumble easily; it's moldable and durable.
There are different types of polystyrene; the one I used in the video differs from the more common and familiar type because it is denser and more durable. Specifically, if you cut it, you won't see the classic polystyrene pellets, but rather a dense, uniform foam.
HIGH-DENSITY POLYSTYRENE
A dear YouTube friend of ours writes:
I use extruded polystyrene (polystyrene), and it can be glued with either vinyl glue or hot glue. However, classic packaging polystyrene (expanded polystyrene) also works fine, and should be shaped with a pyrography gun. If you use hot glue, I recommend using a small gun (as shown in the video) rather than a large one, as they are more powerful and will overheat the glue, thus melting the polystyrene.
