The principle and features of involute gearing of gear wheels.
The involute curve for the formation of the profile of the teeth was proposed by Euler.
It has significant advantages over other curves used for this purpose - it satisfies the basic law of gearing, ensures the constancy of the gear ratio, is insensitive to inaccuracies in the axial distance (this facilitates the assembly of the mechanism), is simple and easy to manufacture, and is easily standardized (which is especially important for such common gears like gears).
