What is 4K?

4K resolution, also called 4K, refers to a horizontal resolution in the order of 4,000 pixels. Several 4K resolutions exist in the fields of digital television and digital cinematography. In the movie projection industry, Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) is the dominant 4K standard.

4K (4096x2180) is the highest video quality available for home use. Special TV's or equipment is required to play 4K. By this scale, 1K is comparable to Full HD (1980x1080).
Most households in the Southern Africa region do not yet have the ability to consume 4K (as at the time of publishing this video: mid 2017).
