Dr. Eric Rosenbush - "Medicine and Buddha Dharma"
Dr. Eric Rosenbush practices and researches the ancient sciences of Asia. This encompasses the classical texts and living lineages of Tibetan, Ayurvedic, and Chinese traditional medicines, as well as jyotisha and Indian classical music.
He completed Masters and Doctoral programs in Chinese medicine, in addition to many years of studies and clinical training with senior doctors and masters. Currently based in Nepal, Eric is Head of the Research and Translation Department at the Sowa Rigpa International College and president of the Drangsong Foundation.

Medical science has been intertwined with Buddhism since earliest times. This talk will introduce connections between Buddhist and medical practice in South Asia from references in early Pali literature to classical Ayurveda and the Sanskrit Buddhist tradition. We will then introduce the Sowa Rigpa tradition in Tibet and Himalayan areas with its unique incorporation of Vajrayana elements.
While rooted in historical and textual perspectives, the medical tradition will be presented as a living clinical science. We will explore topics such as true health and its parallels with enlightenment; physical, mental, and karmic aspects of disease; therapeutic tools; and medical and yogic/tantric views of the body. The talk was entitled "Medicine and Buddha Dharma- Intersections from the Pali, Sanskrit, and Tibetan Traditions". He spoke with students and participants at RYI on 3rd July 2024.
