Verwilderter Phyllostachys in Deutschland

In this video, I'd like to show you a wild Phyllostachys bamboo that has been growing in a neighboring village for several years. I don't just want to highlight the impressive size of this clump; I also want to show you that bamboo is more than just an ornamental plant. I'm referring to its qualities as a noise barrier and privacy screen. Even those who want to grow their own food in their garden can benefit from the presence of bamboo. The bamboo itself acts as a companion plant, protecting more sensitive plants (e.g., pawpaws) from excessive sunlight and wind. In this way, bamboo can help create a microclimate that is pleasant for plants. This microclimate is key to successfully cultivating fruits and vegetables in the home garden, which is increasingly affected by climate change. Personally, I would recommend choosing clumping varieties when planting bamboo.
