Foreigners who can't speak Thai
I get a lot of people asking me what I think about foreigners who can't speak Thai.
I get it. I'm not sure why people love turning it into a competition. We all have different priorities and work commitments. When I first came to Bangkok, learning Thai was a priority for me. I was really interesting in talking to the locals and trying to understand their culture. That being said, I was also quite young and had a fair amount of time to learn Thai. The language is quite challenging and it's somewhat time-consuming, so it's not going to be at the top of everyone's to-do list.
