It's freezing in Russia, and in Yakutia, temperatures have been hovering below -50 for a long time. This means it's time to start a new season in the North.

This year, I'll be embarking on several interesting and extreme expeditions to the Arctic, but I've decided to start 2023 with the most outrageous project, one that others are afraid to even think about, let alone implement.

Since I'm the #1 Arctic blogger and, as my colleagues in the industry say, I create trends and set new directions in the Arctic, let's keep pushing this year so that others can follow suit and catch up.

My first project of the 2023 season is a road rally in the legendary 1976 Moskvich-412 station wagon (in this case, the official rally car of the AZLK racing team).
We already announced the car and the project at the 2022 Poehali exhibition, back when it wasn't yet mainstream.

Our car is like straight off the assembly line. All the parts and components are original, everything was made in the USSR. There's no "collective farm" or rural tuning, despite the car's purely provincial style. We built it with love!

Having braved the cold, the car has already reached Yakutia, and on February 4th, my "Pro Puteshestviye" team (Zhenya Shatalov, Anton Golikov, and Sanya Koval) and I will set off on the first leg of the "Moskvich in the Arctic" automobile expedition.

From Yakutsk, we set off on one of the most challenging roads in the world, the Kolyma Road, a road made of bones. Our journey first leads us to the coldest place in the Northern Hemisphere, the Pole of Cold, Oymyakon, and then along the Kolyma Highway to the easternmost point of all of Eurasia, accessible by year-round public roads. This point is my hometown, the city of Magadan, and the famous Nagaevskaya Bay.

PS: I'm especially pleased that Sergey Shnurov managed to complete the track "Moskvich" before the expedition began, which I declare the official soundtrack for the project.

I'll finish with a line from a song: "It's patriotic, if you're not a chicken, buy a Moskvich station wagon..."

Fasten your seatbelts, we're getting started... Next stop: Oymyakon (Pole of Cold)
