Microservices Vision: Every Class as a Service
More than a decade ago, IDesign's Juval Lowy has identified the potential of micro services. His vision for "every class as a service" was ahead of its time, and yet the benefits of pushing the benefits of service-orientation to the lowest level of your system remain now as relevant as ever. In this 2009 presentation, Juval explains the "why" of microservices. In general, to maximize the use of readymade plumbing aspects you should push the service boundary down into your system. In this session Juval Lowy starts with the power and productivity of WCF as a 'Better .NET', contrasting WCF used granularly on every class with classic .NET in terms of performance, throughput and scalability. Juval then shows a set of tools (such as the in-proc factory) that enable you to mimic the programming model of regular classes, while utilizing services. This allows you to leverage micro-services without the ownership overhead of regular, system-size services.
