Risborough & District Model Railway Club Open Day 2023
On Saturday 24th June 2023, in support of the Risborough Festival, we will be hosting our annual Club Open Day, here at St. Mary’s Hall, Church Street in Princes Risborough. Doors will open from 10am to 4pm, and entrance is absolutely free. Our Open Day is an informal event where you can talk about railways, models, and modelling techniques. It will partly feature one of our club layouts as well as demonstrations and displays of club member’s projects and a second hand stall selling rolling stock, scenic accessories, books, and magazines.
Our displayed club layout will be Aylesbury Town. This is a P4 scale layout depicting Aylesbury Station in the 1950’s. The display will feature two of the scenic boards comprising the main station and approaches, an adjacent engine shed and a goods yard. Club members will be on hand to explain how the layout was constructed and any other questions you may have.
As well as the Aylesbury layout, the Open Day will also feature the Club’s Mellin Parva layout. Mellin Parva is an O-16.5mm narrow gauge layout set in the 1940s/50s, and was recently acquired by the Club for exhibition purposes.
Should you wish to take a break from the activities, a good selection of teas, coffees and cold light refreshments will be available to purchase including an extensive choice from our celebrated homemade cake selection.
