More specifically beam resonances. This episode demonstrates what can happen when care is not taking during the design of the magnetic field. There are innumerable unique magnetic field configurations that will lead to a catastrophic loss of beam during the acceleration process. However, we explore just one: the Walkinshaw resonance. We intentionally design a set of bad poletips to force a beam blow up! (who does that?)
