We created a hilarious game to celebrate our Back To School Sweepstakes but it had a few challenges.
First, lice is gross - so how do you make it fun? Our creative agency, Whink Creative, came to the rescue.
They came up with a Picking Nits Game where players who could pick 10 nits in 1:00 minute won $100.
What we needed:
A white kiddie pool. Why white? Because we wanted the LiceFreee! logo to "float" in the pool. Since it had a white background, putting it on blue didn't look integrated. Despite hours of searching the only colors we could find were green and blue, so we had to use waterproof paint to get it white. It took 4 coats.
To make the life-sized lice comb, we broke the top off a broom, used a styrofoam base, and made the tines with silver-painted wooden kabob skewers. We then wrapped it all with red duct tape and added white tape to make the Licefreee! logo.
For the nits we got 200 white ping pong balls and glued googly eyes to them. We were worried the weight of the eyes would turn them over in the pool, but they were fine.
Due to the angle of the comb in the pool, lifting the nits up was surprisingly hard. Some winners got it on the first try, others really struggled.
What we learned:
People "stabbed" the comb into the pool which damaged the wooden skewers causing them to bend. This then created leverage for the ping pong balls so players who played in the afternoon had a better chance of winning. Next time we would make a spare comb.
The "comb" got a lot of water in the styrofoam which started to disintegrate after a week. Next time we will use something more waterproof.
All the players had a blast and we can't wait to do this again.
Thanks to our team at WhinkCreative.Agency for their incredible creativity.
