There's this crazy festival that happens every year in Osaka, Japan; and I want to make a documentary about it. The Kishiwada Danjiri Matsuri is a wild example of how Japan really lets loose at times. With teams of around 100+ people, portable shrines are literally raced through the streets of Kishiwada at ridiculous speeds, supported by the rhythmic beat of drums and bells.
The festival takes place over the weekend of 16-17th September and I'm looking to connect with teams to follow their journey. On my first day in Kishiwada, I couldn't believe my luck as I managed to witness multiple teams on their first day of practice for this year's event. I've got so many questions about the event and looking forward to seeing it first-hand in a couple of weeks' time!
Hopefully I can make a documentary out of this — it could be a year or two in the making, so let's see where this journey takes us!
