Purpose, Steps, and Conclusions of the Sachs Experiment
The Sachs experiment was introduced by a German scientist named Julius von Sachs around 1860. At that time, Sachs successfully demonstrated that the process of photosynthesis produces a sugar or carbohydrate called starch.
The purpose of Sachs' experiment was to determine the role of light in photosynthesis and to prove that the product of photosynthesis is glucose, an organic material stored in the form of starch.

70% alcohol
Iodine/Lugol's solution

Steps of the Sachs Experiment
Cover some leaves with aluminum foil at night or early in the morning before sunrise, while leaving the others alone. This is to observe the effect of light on the process of photosynthesis.
Place the plant in a location with ample sunlight.
Pick the leaves in the afternoon and open the aluminum foil.
Immerse the leaves in water and boil them for a few minutes, then blanch them in hot alcohol. Boiling the leaves breaks down the leaf cells and allows the amyloplasts to break down, allowing the starch to be released freely. Furthermore, boiling in alcohol also dissolves the chlorophyll, resulting in a pale leaf color.
Once the chlorophyll has dissolved, remove the leaves and drop them with Lugol's solution or iodine. Observe the changes that occur.
