The Shrewsbury Steam Rally
Held every year over the August bank holiday weekend at Onslow Park, just outside Shrewsbury, the Shrewsbury Steam Rally is organised by the SALOP Steam Engine Society. As the name suggests each year there are many, many road steam engines, but there are also hundreds of other vintage and historic vehicles to be seen, from tractors to trucks. Unlike many steam and vintage rallies, at Onslow Park there is a huge 'working field' where engines, tractors and heavy horses can be seen at work. There is a funfair, which at night is powered by the generators of the 'Showman's steam engines' as it would have been in years gone by.
