Paradise Decorated Snake
The paradise ornamental snake (lat. Chrysopelea paradisi) is a type of colubrid snake.
The total length is about 1 m, the maximum length is 1.2 m. They differ from the closely related species Chrysopelea ornata in size and poorly developed keels of the dorsal scales. The body color is much brighter than that of Chrysopelea ornata. On the sides of the body there are green scales with black edging. As it grows, the green color changes to bright yellow and orange. The orange spots on the head are especially large; they alternate with black stripes, forming a beautiful pattern. Brightly colored scales may extend from the back to the base of the tail. However, not all individuals are equally brightly colored; There are also completely green snakes without red and orange spots. The abdomen is light yellow, the non-labial scutes are yellow, and black spots often appear on them, especially in the upper part.
Loves primary and secondary tropical forests found near populated areas. Leads a diurnal, arboreal lifestyle. Capable of gliding flight at a distance of up to 24 m. It feeds on lizards and other arboreal animals.
Oviparous snake. The female lays from 6 to 11 eggs. The young hatch into 15-20 cm quarters.
Often grown in terrariums.
The species is distributed in Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar and the Philippines.
