Steps of operations:
Click on the place that contains the digits and then the app finds the smallest rectangle that contains digits, then it applies some processes before OCR process such as binarization and apply gaussian ,then it segments the rectangle into digits then feed each digit into any classification model such as Convolution neural network (CNN) model or Support Vector Machines (SVM) ..etc. or you can combine multiple models and make a voting for each digit.
