1. With simplicity, openness, and honesty.
2. Say NO without justification. You don't have to justify yourself! Sometimes, if you have the words and if the other person wants to understand your NO, you can explain, but it's not always possible!
3. Say NO without judgment.
No self-judgment; don't feel guilty!
No judgment of the other person; they have the right to ask you what they want!
4. And finally, say NO, in a win-win negotiation. "Yes, if..." "Yes, under certain conditions..."
