There are 3 main components to charging your iPhone. These are the battery, charging port and the charging IC (tristar). Often times, the tristar can become damaged from using cheap or unauthorized accessories/charging cables.
This issue can occur in iPhones, iPads, and iPods. It can be repaired by replacing the Tristar IC on the logic board.
