Blueprints to Breakthroughs: Enhancing Vaccine Manufacturing Ecosystems in DMCs

The SECURE Webinar Series by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) was an initiative aimed at strengthening health security and resilience across Southeast Asia. As a platform for knowledge exchange, it brought together diverse stakeholders, including governments, private sector leaders, development partners, and civil society networks, to discuss innovative approaches and best practices. Supported by ADB’s technical assistance program on COVID-19 vaccination and health security (TA 6767-REG), the SECURE webinars highlighted strategies for developing member countries (DMCs) to address health challenges and prepare for future health crises. SECURE Webinar 18 featured ADB’s Human and Social Development Office’s Solutions Development Working Group on Health Systems Strengthening (HSD-SDWG HSS), focusing on vaccine manufacturing and regulatory ecosystems.
This 90-minute virtual event spotlighted ADB's initiatives to advance domestic vaccine production, regulatory oversight, and clinical trials in DMCs, particularly in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Viet Nam. Through case studies, participants gained insights into ADB's collaborative efforts to enhance vaccine access and market stability, addressing unique challenges faced by each country. The webinar explored topics such as regulatory capacity building, domestic vaccine production, international partnerships, and technology transfers to support long-term health security.
SECURE Webinar 18 provided an opportunity for participants to learn from successful projects and exchange ideas with regional experts on building robust vaccine production and regulatory frameworks. This session was ideal for professionals engaged in public health, government policy, and development work who were interested in understanding how strategic investments and partnerships could strengthen health security in the Asia-Pacific region.
