"We're not here, you know."
"Where are we?"
"The palms are swaying in the breeze...
...everybody's gone home except for you and me."

Do you ever edit, and some wordless story strings you along? The pieces fit together one way, then another, until you find a cohesion all the way through. (Or not, it's up to your interpretation - but mine fits!)
Normally I like to leave my videos up to audience interpretation but if you want a peek at how I think it goes, I included it below. This story had a few different evolutions before settling on what ultimately took me until 6 AM on a Thursday morning. Gosh I love editing until the sun rises & letting the story lead me ^-^ missed this!

story summary:
Roxas goes on missions to several worlds, but happens to meet a girl who looks a lot like Xion at a place called Destiny Islands. Turns out, her name is Kairi, and she quickly takes to Roxas - they become friends, both visiting each other's worlds. He's concerned the more time he spends there, the more likely he is to get caught and her in danger, so they promise to go back to the way things were, forcing separation. But in the end, they both succumb to their desire to see each other and dream of a life together. With Kairi on the clock tower, he can't imagine a better future. Meanwhile, Sora is trying to help Namine escape - a/n: I guess, abusive family/stockholm syndrome type thing going on here? - Essentially he has this complex that just by being with her he can save her, take her back to the dreamy days he snuck her out of her home/the castle and to his dreamy island home. And as much as they both know what they're doing is escapism, they indulge in it. But Namine is aware it's not forever, and as much as she cares for him, it's not the way she wants to do things. Cut to, Roxas and Sora both trying to force their idealism onto Kairi & Namine respectively. The idea of paradise & you-and-me-versus-the-world, and the consequences of both. Kairi grew up on those islands and while she concedes to staying with him, she isn't happy there; Namine can't make herself leave the family she's always known -- no matter how much the boys will their loves to manifest, they can't do it at the expense of the girls they treasure.

It's also a throwback in a few ways - namely, the good ol' fashioned overlay (amirite, circa 2008-2010 youtube??) and the song! I feel like I almost missed my chance to do this song but I love it, despite how inherently sexual it is (none of that translated into the video lmao)
