I am very excited to finally upload my tribute to the great Alexi Laiho. For this project, I removed Jaska's original drum track and approached the tune loosely to have a natural, improvised feel between myself and Alexi's guitar playing. I love how this video turned out; the mix, the improvised fills, the feel. This is a video I've wanted to do for a long time and I'm excited to finally be uploading a finished product.
Alexi Laiho's guitar playing and songwriting are staples of my adolescent years. He wrote some of the best solos and leads, all while being completely fucked up on drugs. I honestly have no idea how he did it, but that's just one of the things that makes him a legend. No one could play like Alexi.
Rest in peace brotha! If there's another side, I hope to meet you there.
Lastly, Jaska Raatikainen is one of my all-time favorite metal drummers. Hence my "improvised," performance greatly resembles his original drum track. He never overplays and writes incredibly tasteful parts. This is why I cannot just forget what he originally put down on record cause it's burnt into my brain permanently. So cheers to Jaaska!! Hopefully, I'll get the opportunity to meet you on this current plane of existence.
